Hook size J/10 – 6.00mm (for the main part of the bag) or K/10.5 – 6.50mm (for the straps), or whatever size you need to achieve a nice texture
Tapestry needle to weave in ends, scissors, sewing pins, sewing needle if sewing by hand, iron-on interfacing (optional) If you don’t want your bag to be as stiff as it would otherwise be with just a single layer of fabric, add some iron-on interfacing before cutting out all of your pieces.
This can be found at any craft store and comes in different weights depending on how stiff you want it. The heavier duty interfacing is best for this project!
How To Make It:
Make 2 pieces each measuring 14” x 7 ½“ using the larger hook size given above for the outer piece A and smaller hook size given above for inner piece B – one piece will have an open hole right down its center where a strap will later go; other piece will have two seams sewn down both sides so that they meet up perfectly when sewn together back-to-back later on!
This is what makes up each “side” of our backpack — just remember which side has seam allowances included as well as where those seam allowances should begin/end so that when we sew them together later on during step 5 below these measurements become crucial!!

- A skein of worsted weight yarn (or similar) in two different colors, in equal amounts
- Size G crochet hook (or similar)
Using a slip knot on your hook, chain 25 chains. Slip stitch to join into a loop at the end of the chain, then turn your work so that you can begin crocheting back down through the loops on your hook until there are no remaining loose ends; this will form the base for your basket!
The single ring that remains between each stitch is called a “turning chain”—don’t forget to include it as part of every row when counting stitches!
Begin working into this first turning chain by making one single crochet (sc), then skip two stitches and work two double crochets (dc) this should be repeated across until there are five dc rows completed; remember to count all turning chains as “one” stitch when doing so!
At this point, switch colors so that there are now two different colored sides with five rows each; continue working both sides until they meet at the center with five rows each side still remaining before switching back again this should leave about 1 inch worth of space between them once complete.
You’ll want to continue alternating between these three stages until all twenty-five rows have been worked out over one color before switching again for another round’s worth without going back over them again yet
