Melange Cable Knit Pillow

If you’re looking for a pillow that is both simple and cozy, this pattern is for you. We love the nubby texture of this knit project and how it adds a bit of texture to your home.

The pattern includes instructions for making either a throw pillow or an 18-inch square pillow cover.

The knitting instructions are very easy to follow and written out in plain English rather than abbreviated knitting jargon. It’s also available in Portuguese (if you’re into foreign languages), which makes sense because it’s from Brazil!

The yarn used in this pattern is simply called “cotton,” so be sure to check the label on your skein before starting if you want something specific!

Diamonds On Point Crochet Pillow Pattern

Materials:

  • worsted weight yarn (I used Lily Sugar n’ Cream cotton in white)
  • size H crochet hook (5mm)
  • tapestry needle to weave in ends

Gauge: 4.5 stitches per 2 inches (2.5 cm). This is a gauge you can use if you want the pillow cover to be firm and not stretchy, but if you prefer something more relaxed and floppy, try using a gauge of 5 stitches per inch instead.

For example, if your finished size after washing is going to be 12″x12″, then your gauge would be 6 stitches per inch; if it’s going to be 15″x15″, then your gauge would be 7.5 stitches per inch; etcetera!

Lazy Daisy Stitch Knitted Throw Pillow Pattern

Lazy Daisy Stitch is a simple crochet stitch that produces a beautiful texture. The stitch can be used to make blankets and pillows.

This pattern will teach you how to make the pillow, but if you’ve learned this stitch before, it shouldn’t be hard for you to adapt it into a blanket.

The pattern itself is easy, but some of the instructions are written in Japanese. If you don’t know any Japanese, this might be an issue for you but there are plenty of videos on YouTube showing how to work Lazy Daisy Stitch in English!

A Super Cozy Knitted Pillow Pattern

This pattern is quick and simple to make, but still has some nice details that make it unique. You will need:

  • Size 10 needles (I used these Clover knitting needles)
  • Worsted weight yarn in 2 colors (I used Lion Brand Hometown USA Superwash Merino Wool Yarn)
  • A darning needle to weave in ends

This pillow takes about two hours to complete, which makes the cost of materials a little higher than some of the other projects on this list.

But if you’re looking for something different from your standard throw pillow, this might be the one for you!

To care for this project: hand wash cold water with gentle soap; lay flat to dry or tumble dry low heat only; do not bleach; use cool iron on reverse side only if needed and never over any printed designs!

Textured Squares Pillow Pattern

You’ll need:

A 5 x 7-inch square pillow form. If you’re using a 20 x 20-inch piece of fabric, you’ll need to sew two squares together in order to create the larger square shape.

One skein of yarn in each of these colors: white, heather gray, light brown and dark brown. The pattern recommends 16 ounces of worsted weight yarn total, but it’s up to your personal preference how much you actually use! I used less than half a skein for each color on my pillow project.

A US size 8/5 mm 24-inch circular needle (if knitting flat) or US size 8/5 mm 32-inch circular needle (if knitting in the round). You can also use straight needles if that’s easier for you!

If you’re new to knitting, it can be overwhelming to learn all the terminology and techniques. Our beginner’s guide to knitting breaks it down step-by-step so you can start your knitting journey with confidence!

Conclusion

And, now you know how to make a pillow! It’s the perfect way to get started with crochet and it can be done in no time at all. The great thing about this project is that there are so many ways to customize it by choosing different colors and patterns of yarn.
