Today I’m going to share some of my favorite crochet decorations that are all easy enough for beginners and great for those of us who aren’t quite ready for shawls yet.

The Classic Granny Square

A granny square is a perfect crochet project for beginners. It’s a small, easy-to-understand shape that you can get the hang of quickly, so it’s nice to have a few on hand when you’re in need of some instant gratification.

Materials:

  • A skein of yarn (I used Red Heart Super Saver Solids in white)
  • Size H (5 mm) crochet hook

Dainty Snowflake Motifs

If you’re looking for a dainty and lacy crochet motif, the snowflake is a perfect choice. You can use this motif to make wreaths, coasters, or even pillows.

To make a snowflake pattern you will need:

  • Yarn – white and blue yarn (one with sparkles would be great)
  • Hook size – 2 mm
  • Tapestry needle to weave in loose ends and sew motif together

Ripple Afghan

Ripple afghans are a fun way to experiment with color and texture, and the end result is a cozy blanket that looks like you spent hours on it. They’re also a great way to use up leftover yarn from other projects.

To make your own ripple afghan, you’ll need:

  • 8 skeins of worsted-weight yarn in different colors (you can always buy more if needed)
  • Size J/10 hook (6mm) or whatever size works with the yarn you choose; some people prefer larger hooks so they can get quicker results while others prefer smaller hooks because they like how their stitches look tighter when crocheted in this manner. It’s really up to personal preference.
  • Scissors and measuring tape (to measure the squares and cut them out) aren’t necessary but are nice because they help keep things neat during construction

Striped Afghan

Welcome to the world of crocheting, where you can make your own cozy striped afghan. Crocheting is easy and fun, especially when you start with a simple pattern like this one.

The best part is that it only takes about 2 hours to make an afghan measuring 42 by 70 inches (if you’re not sure what size that is in feet and inches, scroll down for conversion charts).

A striped afghan makes a great gift for someone who has moved into their first apartment or home. They are also useful for keeping cozy during winter nights spent reading comics on the couch (who doesn’t love comic books?).

They come in many different sizes from baby blankets all the way up through king-sized bedspreads so there’s one for every person on your shopping list this holiday season!

Striped Afghans are easy enough even beginners can get started right away! If you don’t feel like making one yourself then try finding one at a thrift store near where you live; they’re usually priced very reasonably so buying them new would cost more than buying one used anyway!”

Scrubbie

A scrubber is a great way to get your hands dirty while cleaning. If you’re into DIY, this project will allow you to use your creativity and skills to make something useful out of old clothes.

You can use any yarn or material that you have around the house but it’s always good to use natural fibers so that they don’t shed as much.

To make a scrubbie, grab two pieces of fabric (one large enough for the size of scrubbie that you want) and cut them into squares using a rotary cutter or scissors.

The size depends on how big or small you want your finished product; just keep in mind that if it’s too small then it won’t work as well when used on dishes.

You’ll also need an old pair of socks or stockings with plenty left over at both ends so they can be tied together after cutting off their feet (while still leaving enough length).

Once those are prepared along with some safety pins which will hold everything together by keeping all four corners tight together until reaching the final stage later on third step below).

Small ScrubbieA decorative, small scrubbie that can be used to add a pop of color to the kitchen.

Coasters

If you’re looking for a way to personalize your home and show off your crochet skills, coasters are the perfect project. With their small size, they’re easy to work on while watching TV or talking with friends. The only limit is your imagination.

You can make them in any shape or size you like and even change up the colors if you want something more colorful than the usual gray or brown. This project is also a great choice for beginners because it doesn’t require many supplies just some yarn and a hook will do.

If this sounds like something you’d like to try out, see below for instructions on how to make four different types of coasters:

  • Square Coaster (using single crochet stitches)
  • Hexagon Coaster (using half double crochet stitches)
  • Triangle Coaster (using treble crochets)
  • Round Coaster (using double crochets).

Slippers

If you’ve never crocheted before, or if it’s been a while since you’ve handled yarn and hooks, this pattern is an excellent place to start. It uses only single crochet stitches (which are the most basic ones in crochet), so even if you’ve never picked up a pair of scissors or needles before, you can make these slippers.

To make these slippers:

You’ll need one skein of red yarn and one skein each of black and white yarn. You can choose any colors that match your home decorating style, but I chose these because they’re festive yet still neutral enough that they’ll work with almost any color scheme after all, who doesn’t need more red and black in their life?

If you want them to last through multiple seasons without fading (and let’s face it: who doesn’t?), use acrylic instead of cotton for all three colors (and maybe even add some sparkle!).

The pattern calls for size 7 double-pointed knitting needles; if those aren’t available at your local craft store, just grab whatever size needles are available there even though the pattern says “7,” it’s really just giving us an average size range for what we should expect out of our finished project.

Shower Puffs

This is a nice, soft way to add a little texture and color to your bathroom.

To make one:

Crochet a large rectangle that measures roughly 15 inches x 12 inches (the size will depend on the space in your shower). You can use any yarn you like, but be sure it’s not too thick or heavy you don’t want this item to weigh down your curtain rod.

Sew around all four sides of the crochet piece using an overhand stitch so that no raw edges are visible on the outside; leave about 2 inches unstitched at both ends of each side seam so that they’ll be easier later on when filling with cotton balls or other material later in this project (you have enough space now because it’s so long).

Fill with cotton balls or other filler until it’s firm but not stuffed too tightly it should hold its shape well even after being handled repeatedly by wet hands from taking showers throughout its lifetime.

This step might take some trial and error depending on how many people live at home with you; just keep adding more cotton balls until it feels like enough weight has been added without making things too bulky underfoot during bathroom routines.”

Decorating your home with crochet can be enjoyed throughout the year. Whether it’s a warm and cozy blanket for the winter or a bright and colorful garland for the summer, crochet home decor can make any season delightful. Check out our guide on Crochet Home Decor for Every Season to learn more.

Christmas Ornaments

Christmas ornaments are a great way to add some color and fun to your Christmas tree. Crocheting your own ornaments can be a great way to give them as gifts or keep them for yourself!

To make handmade crochet ornaments, you need a yarn that is suitable for making ornaments. You will also need a size 7 (4.5mm) crochet hook if you want to make an ornament with a large hook, otherwise, it will be too small and won’t hang properly on your Christmas tree.

You can use any colors that match your Christmas tree’s theme as well as other decorations around the house during this time of year such as lights and garlands – just remember what types of colors go best together before starting work so that all items look nice together once finished.

Wreath Decoration

Crochet wreath decorations are great for hanging on the wall or door, and they can be made in a variety of sizes. To make one, you’ll need a small crochet hook (we recommend using one that is about 4mm in size), yarn in several colors, and some buttons or beads to decorate it with.

Once you’ve chosen the colors and design of your wreath, begin by working around 20 chain stitches. The number will depend on how big your wreath is going to be – but remember that the first row may not include all of these chains.

Turn your work so that it’s facing down again, then continue working rows until you have reached around 10cm/4in from where you started working on the first row (see our handy tip below).

Once this point has been reached, change color by taking off both ends of the yarn at once so that no ends are left hanging lose this way they won’t unravel later on when the decoration is finished.

Now work back down towards where your first row started with single crochets across each stitch until there are just four stitches left before switching back to another color again. Repeat this process until all six sides of your project have been worked up all around.

When finished sewing together each side seam with slip stitches by inserting your needle through two strands at once instead of just one (and pulling through!), sew buttons onto any spaces between each round segment as desired; use beads instead if preferred over buttons; add fringe if desired at the end opposite where buttonholes were placed

Baby Blanket

Choose a soft, easy-care yarn.

Crochet a square and then sew the squares together. Because you’ll be working with more than one color of yarn, it might be easier to work in rows rather than columns.

This will give you something with straight sides for sewing later on and help keep track of where the beginning and end of each row are.

Use a blanket stitch to sew the squares together in order to avoid any holes where they meet up at their borders (a blanket stitch also lets some of the individual stitches show through).

This can be done by working around every second or third stitch until all pieces are sewn together; alternatively, if you’re using worsted weight cotton or other similar weight material, try using half double crochet stitches instead so that there aren’t any gaps between them when you join them into larger sections.

Add some extra interest by adding fringe along the edges with either single crochet stitches or chains; this way any mistakes won’t show up quite so much when looking at what’s underneath them.

Conclusion

So, there you have a whole bunch of crochet Christmas decorations to make your home feel festive and inviting. I hope these patterns will inspire you to try crocheting yourself.
