Play Mats

Play Mats are a great way to keep baby occupied while they are learning to sit up. The best part is that you can make a play mat out of any fabric, but cotton works best.

For this pattern, you will need:

  • A piece of yarn (size 4) and your crochet hook
  • Scissors or cutting tool
  • Needle and thread (to sew the border on)

Booties

Booties are a wonderful way to keep baby’s feet warm. They’re also easy to make, making them perfect for beginners or people who just want something quick and easy.

The best part about booties is that they can be made in any size! You can use these patterns as a base and add more rounds if needed.

Booties can be made in any color, so there are endless possibilities! I love this project because you don’t need many supplies other than yarn, which I always have on hand anyway! As long as your gauge is correct (or close enough), you’ll be able to use whatever yarn you have lying around the house.

Speaking of gauges…you can make these booties using any stitch pattern or combination of stitches! This pattern includes instructions for single crochet and half double crochet stitches, but if you’re feeling adventurous try something else out!

Bonnet

The bonnet is one of the easiest things to crochet, and therefore one of the best projects for beginners! It’s also a great way to use up scraps.

Here are some of my favorite crochet bonnet patterns:

  • Crochet Baby Bonnet – This pattern is simple but elegant, and it can easily be adjusted to fit your baby’s head size (and hair!).
  • Little Pink Bonnet Hat – If you’re looking for something extra sweet, this would be a great choice! It features beautiful flowers on top.
  • Striped Blanket Hat – If your kid is into stripes and bright colors, then this hat will be perfect for them! This design includes both written instructions as well as photos so you can see how it should look when finished.

Bib

Bibs are cloth or plastic garments that are worn over the front of the body, typically while “worn during eating and drinking to protect clothing from food or liquid spills.”

They can be made of many different materials and in many different styles, ranging from the simple “bib” (a rectangular piece of cloth or plastic with straps) to complex creations that have ties at neck and waist.

Bibs date back at least as far as ancient Egypt; hieroglyphics show them being worn under tunics by men and women alike.

Bibs were also a staple of Roman fashion—in fact, it is from Latin bibere meaning “to drink” that we get our modern words for both beverage and bibulous (adjective: fond of drinking).

Blanket

Blankets are a great gift for any baby, new mom, or new dad. They’re also perfect for grandparents and friends.

When gifting a blanket to someone who doesn’t know how to crochet or knit, it’s important to choose the right pattern.

If you’ve never crocheted before, this is a great pattern to start with! It’s easy enough for beginners but impressive enough for anyone who receives it as a gift.

Pillow

Your first step is to make the pillow cover. Place your yarn over the top of your crochet hook and bring it under like a slip knot. Pull it tight so that you have an even-sized loop on your hook.

Next, use your fingers to pull up a loop through that first loop, then do this again with another loop made from the same strand of yarn.

Continue adding loops until you have 5 or 6 in total (you can vary this number if you want more or less loops per crochet stitch). Now pull those loops off one by one until only one remains on the hook this will be called “working” that last remaining loop into place later on!

Now grab another strand of yarn and repeat what was done before: take it over top of all other strands currently being held in place before pulling up another new set of loops from there as well (5–6 should work here too).

Once done repeating this process with yet another set/strand/size combo; continue doing so until there’s only one left hanging around inside those initial two loops created at start time (working!).

Stuffed Animal Toy

Materials needed:

  • Worsted weight yarn in three colors (you can use whatever colors you’d like, but this is what I used)
  • Size H crochet hook (for the body) or size G for the head and arms/legs; A smaller size will be needed for the eyes and nose.
  • Tapestry needle to weave in ends and sew pieces together, scissors, stitch marker (optional).

Finished Size: Approximately 7″ long from nose to tail tip after stuffing with poly-fil.

Hooded Baby Towel

You’ll need:

Cotton yarn in your favorite color. I love Lion Brand Baby Soft. It’s soft and comes in a wide range of colors. It’s also really easy to find, since it’s a basic yarn that you can buy at just about any craft store.

A hook that is appropriate for the yarn you are using (e.g., H/8mm). If you use a lighter or smaller hook than recommended by the manufacturer, it may be too small to hold up all those stitches! You don’t want to end up with a weak piece of fabric here—you’re making something for babies after all!

A measuring tape or ruler if you want to make sure everything is even across the row before starting off with your first stitch

Chain 20 stitches using both loops throughout the pattern until the finished length reaches the desired size (about 5 inches long). Slip stitch into first chain created by this process; finish off by cutting excess tail from beginning chain then pull through loop on hook so as not to unravel completely yet

Diaper Bag

This pattern is for a diaper bag that can be used by either a mom or dad. It’s great because it has tons of room and pockets, but isn’t too big and bulky like many other diaper bags on the market.

To make the bag: chain 20 stitches, then slip stitch in each chain across. Chain 1 and turn (this will count as your first double crochet). Continue this pattern until you have made 15 rows: dc x 5; ch 1; turn (counts as one row).

At this point, you will begin working in rows rather than rounds: dc across until you reach the last stitch before where you started your ch-1 turning chain from earlier; ch 3 (this counts as your turning chain); turn so that your work is facing away from you again; dc in next three stitches going down side; sc in next two stitches going across bottom of bag this forms an “X” between two corners on top edge of bag dc over next three stitches along opposite side to complete cross shape from previous round before repeating steps 1-5 once more so that there are four corners at each end.)

Repeat steps 1-6 until desired length is reached, then sew handles onto sides of bag using yarn needle through both thicknesses at each end of handle piece being careful not to go all the way through other side yet so we don’t get any holes when attaching handle pieces together later!

Burp Cloths

If you know someone who has a baby, or is expecting one, the best gift to give is a homemade burp cloth. It can be made from any type of cotton yarn and will make a great addition to the nursery.

The size of your burp cloth depends on the size of your recipient’s baby. Make it long enough to cover both shoulders and wide enough so that it fits over them without being too tight or too loose around their body (you don’t want it slipping off).

The thickness should be about 1/4 inch thick when finished; this makes for an absorbent surface that will keep all those spit-ups from soaking through onto clothing!

Swaddle Blanket

A swaddle blanket is a great project for beginners who want to make something for someone special. It’s also a great way to practice your crochet skills, because the pattern is simple and it uses only one stitch: single crochet (sc).

To begin, chain 31 stitches and join them together with a slip stitch. This will form the bottom edge of your blanket.

Next, you’ll work some rows of sc across this bottom edge so that it forms an even curve on both sides of your blanket you should have 30 sc in each row when you’re done.

If you’re using Bernat Softee Baby yarn like I did, then these first two steps should produce approximately 32 inches in width (although it’s okay if yours is slightly bigger or smaller). At this point we’re ready to move on to our next step: adding increases so that we can start making our squares!

Baby Hat

A crochet baby hat is a fun and easy project to make. It’s also the perfect gift for any new parent, with its softness and warmth making it an ideal present for those first chilly days of autumn or winter.

Baby hats are extremely popular with new parents, as they are small enough to be portable yet warm enough to keep little heads cozy during feeding time or while snuggling up in bed.

They’re also easy to make! With just a few basic stitches and some yarn, you can create these adorable accessories that will keep your favorite little one warm on cold days.

Conclusion

Baby gifts are a great way to show your love and affection. They’re also an easy way to get started with crochet if you haven’t done it before.

These baby crochet patterns are all really cute and range in difficulty from beginner to intermediate level, so anyone can make them!
